Alex Morante (b.1994) a multidisciplinary artist from New Jersey, currently based in London.

Her figurative practice serves as a mode of introspection, rooted in a morbid curiosity. Drawing from the dark imagery found in mythology, folklore, and religious iconography she forms personal narratives that evoke deterioration, transformation, and the subconscious.

Working primarily in ceramic, she uses glazes and oxides to develop tactile, reactive surfaces that mimic corrosion, patina, mold, and lichen. These unpredictable interactions mirror the body’s own volatility, an awareness deepened since being diagnosed with a chronic illness. What began as a necessary adaptation has become a generative force, shifting her work into a collaboration with instability.

Through this evolving process, she explores uneasy dualities such as growth and decay, empathy and fear, the familiar and the unknown.
