Alex Morante (b.1994) is a multidisciplinary artist from New Jersey, based in London, and a graduate of Central Saint Martins BA Hons. Ceramic Design.

Her figurative practice explores how physical and psychological states can be expressed materially, particularly in response to bodily and emotional volatility.

Originally trained in drawing and painting, she moved into ceramics to give these ideas physical form. Her recent work emphasizes surface as more than a finish, by using reactive glazes and oxides to create textures that evoke corrosion, patina, mould, and lichen—Turning these material processes into metaphors for transformation, deterioration, and endurance.

Rooted in a morbid curiosity, she draws on the dark imagery from mythology, folklore, religious iconography, and references from sci-fi to memento mori traditions, her work explores dualities such as growth and decay, empathy and fear, and the familiar and the unknown.
